Privacy Policy

1. Controller

busz.app is operated by a private individual in Hungary. This policy covers the busz.app application for iOS and Android and the web application at web.busz.app.

2. Data processed

The application transmits the following to the busz.app server:

1. Map coordinates. The centre of the displayed map and a search radius, rounded to four decimal places, in order to return nearby stops, departures and vehicles. The map is centred on the device's location when the application is opened and when the locate control is used; at those times the coordinates correspond to the user's approximate position.
2. Search terms entered in the search field.
3. Connection data inherent to an HTTP request, namely the IP address and user agent.

The device's location is additionally processed locally by the application to display the device's position on the map. Location access requires permission, which may be granted or revoked in the device's system settings or, for the web application, in the browser's settings.

Appearance, language and list-grouping preferences are stored on the device and are not transmitted.

3. Purposes and legal bases

The data in section 2 is processed solely to answer the request that carries it. The legal bases are Article 6(1)(b) GDPR, performance of the service requested by the user, and Article 6(1)(f), the legitimate interest in operating that service. The device's location is processed on the same basis, the legitimate interest being the display of the user's position on the map.

4. Retention

Requests are answered from memory and are not retained. No access logs, user accounts, identifiers or records of activity are created.

5. Recipients

• Map data is requested by the device from the map provider of the platform in use: Apple Inc. (Apple Maps) on iOS, Google LLC (Google Maps) on Android, and in the web application busz.app's own map service, whose fonts and symbols are served by GitHub, Inc. These recipients receive the device's IP address and the area of the map displayed.
• DNS for the domain, hosting of the busz.app website and web application, and the web application's map service are provided by Cloudflare, Inc., which produces aggregate query statistics and receives the IP address of visitors to the website and the web application.
• Timetable and vehicle data are obtained from the transit operator's public feeds. No user data is transmitted to them.

Where the application is obtained from the App Store or Google Play, the privacy policies of Apple Inc. and Google LLC apply to the distribution of the application.

6. Rights of the data subject

Articles 15 to 21 GDPR provide the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. Requests may be addressed to the contact in section 1.

7. Complaints

A complaint may be lodged with the Hungarian supervisory authority, the Nemzeti Adatvédelmi és Információszabadság Hatóság, https://naih.hu, or with the supervisory authority of the user's member state.

8. Amendments

Amendments to this policy are reflected in the effective date above.
